Profile
Paul is a very experienced dispute resolution lawyer who now mainly practices in Employment, Discrimination and Personal Injury Law. His work embraces the fields of Public Law and Human Rights often involving Regulatory issues arising out of wrongful allegations causing damage to professional careers and reputations.
Employment
Paul has extensive experience of employment law. He practices in all areas including unfair, constructive and wrongful dismissal, termination of employment, redundancy, breach of contract, compromise agreement packages, equal pay, breach of confidence, restrictive covenants, bullying, harassment, and TUPE.
In addition to supporting and advising clients through the internal stages of disciplinary, grievance, and appeal hearings Paul is engaged cases in Employment Tribunals across the UK, County Court and High Court, as well as in cases before a variety of Public and Regulatory bodies and Appeal Courts.
He is regularly instructed in multi-day cases including some high value, complex, and sensitive claims.
He acts for both employees (including senior executives and professional practitioners from across a number of different sectors) and employers (on a consultancy basis dealing with equality, advisory, representation, training and drafting issues from recruitment to termination).
He regularly works alongside some of the leading Counsel in their field to achieve the best possible outcomes for all of his clients.
Discrimination
Paul has particular interest in helping to champion clients who feel bullied, harassed, oppressed, wronged, threatened, discriminated or otherwise victimised against in the workplace.
Dealing with victims of injustice involving whistle blowing and discrimination claims including sex, race, pregnancy, disability as well as sexual orientation, religion or belief and age have now become a regular feature of Paul's daily workload.
Achieving fairness and equality is a continual battle and for those clients left with no choice other than to seek redress Paul will do all he can to eliminate the suffering and ensure that all appropriate legal remedies are explored to end the discrimination and compensate the victim according to the law.
Personal Injury
Paul's personal injury practice focuses on industrial and workplace injuries including Inquests. He has experience of advising claimants on stress at work claims involving psychiatric injuries.
Paul also has an increasing cross-over between his employment, discrimination and personal injury work with more cases involving elements of earlier professional negligence.
He advises on cases involving professional negligence claims arising out of failed litigation before the Employment Tribunals or Courts where claims have been lost due to a failure to issue within limitation periods, or that have been missed altogether and/or have been under settled.
Dispute Resolution
Paul continues to receive instructions from regular clients and special requests from new clients to take on specific cases outside of his main fields of interest because of his proven ability to manage complex, technical, voluminous and sensitive cases.
Where such a special case is taken on then Paul will assemble the necessary supporting legal team and act either as the lead lawyer or as the case manager dealing with all important strategic decisions for the client as required.
